Erin Needs Our Support

Let's rally around Erin and give her the support she so freely gives to others.

Erin has been dealing with symptoms of a neurological injury that went unidentified for the first three years, and over the past several months those symptoms have gotten severe enough that she has had to let go of her acupuncture practice to take time to heal. There's still no diagnosis or treatment plan, and her symptoms make even ordinary things like being on a screen, driving, or reading difficult most days.

This page is where the people around her are pulling together to help.

We've created this page as a hub for the different ways people are pitching in to help right now: starting with an online silent auction, a GoFundMe, and a few other things still coming together. It's intended to be a place to check for updates, ways to help, and what's actually happening, and keep things in one place for ease.

The full story is below in the GoFundMe section. And Erin has also left a note of gratitude below as well.

Let's show Erin how supported she is, and what can happen when community pulls together to help.

The GoFundMe

If you want to know more about what Erin's been going through, this is where the full story lives. It goes into what's happened, what's changed since she first went off work, and what the road back to work actually looks like. It also explains why the goal is being raised in stages instead of all at once, and what each stage is going toward.

A Note of Gratitude from Erin

What an adventure! This whole process has been a lesson for me on how to not only ask for help but how to receive it. And I tell you, I've still got a lot to learn. It took a long time for me to feel ok with sharing what was going on for me because I had this silly notion that practitioners need to "have it all together". And that is simply not true. What has made me an amazing practitioner (to humbly toot my own professional horn) is that I have understood deeply what my patients have gone through when dealing with nervous system challenges, chronic health issues, and while navigating the western medical world. This latest experience is deepening that in a way that I know will support my own growth as a human, and my patients in the future once I can get back to work. In the meantime though, I am fully listening to my body's demands for recovery before returning. It is time I hold space for myself, so I can have the honour of holding space for others again.

To everyone who has shown up since this all started - thank you doesn't begin to say enough about the gratitude I feel for you. Whether it was a message of support when I originally announced I was taking time off, the check-in messages, the fundraiser donations (that one has been hard to receive), the food delivery, and the walks/tea together, it has all helped me so much.

This is turning out to be a much longer, more complex road than I ever anticipated, but I feel hopeful knowing there are so many of you who care, are holding me in your thoughts, and who are giving me the opportunity to be a villager (to receive help), when I am so used to being the village on my own.
